Discard Nothing:
2009—Iraq, a country where ingenuity is a product of necessity, an environment where the basic of needs are costly, where nothing is thrown away—and everything is repaired. This candid image of an Iraqi street mechanic, in the Hayy Al Jawsaq region of Mosul, Northern Iraq, makes repairs to a coupling for a water pump, needed to help Irrigate the local fields. Mohammed Mustafa Zamir has repaired this coupling numerous times; he believes there are still many more years of use—in an item that was initially discarded by U.S. forces, found on a trash dump, and fabricated to use with a local water pump.
