Passing Train:
This handheld capture of a passing subway car through Canal Street subway station in lower Manhattan was a total fluke! At the precise moment, I pressed the shutter the window of the moving train lined up with the people alighting from the stationary carriage on the opposite platform. The original idea was to capture several candid images of people exiting the train on the northbound platform. As the train started to pass, obscuring my view, I decided to shoot an exposure to see if I could capture movement—this was the result; right place, right time, at the right moment. I like the simplicity and gritty look.
