Shafer Canyon Trail:
The Shafer Canyon Trail is an 18-mile dirt track located within the Canyonlands National Park, Moab, a city in eastern Utah. It requires extreme caution at the best of times for vehicles and mountain bikes alike, but especially in inclement weather and at night. The road has humbled many egos and requires strong nerves to negotiate it! Novice drivers should not attempt it. The trail is well-maintained, although conditions can change fairly quickly with wind, rockfall, and rain; it's certainly breathtaking, and it has a fearsome reputation. It remains an adrenaline-pumping journey and is not for the faint of heart. Words can't describe the road, and pictures don't do it justice; it is an excellent trail for someone who is looking for an off-road experience. Virtually any four-wheel-drive vehicle will succeed in navigating this road. Highlights along the trail include well-marked Indian petroglyphs and amazing natural stone arches.
