No Chickens Here:
A posed image of a young Afghan boy, one of many, begging on Chicken Street, Kabul, Afghanistan. His body language suggested, "I will pose for a dollar!" I didn't have a dollar! I settled for a five. I lost him after two quick images—the excitement took him dashing to the nearest bread shop.
Chicken Street is a renowned shopping area within Kabul, famous for its wealthy tourists, foreign troops, and the media. They come to buy Afghan souvenirs—primarily Afghan rugs, coats, jewelry, and antiques. Despite the name, there are no Chickens on Chicken Street! The street takes its name from a chicken shop that was once located in the area during the reign of King Zahir Shah.
